When this site was established in late 1999, it was primarily to be a history of the BELL's and the related families.

This was its prime purpose until about early 2001, when planning of an overseas holiday to Europe and the UK, was in progress. My wife and I were planning to do a 3 week hire car tour of the the UK after spending about 3 weeks in Europe. After gathering details of locations in Yorkshire and Durham, we thought it may be a good idea to try and locate some areas in Scotland where my wife's ancestors (MACKIE family) originated from.
To see the results, click on the MACKIE link

The list of of the BELL families and their branches includes BELL, CATTERSON, DAWSON/DAWSON, HOATH, LONSDALE, and, to a lesser extant, RICHARDSON. As a result, a lot of names are common to some or all of the above names. Eventually ALL names that are common will be added to the respective families. As this is a huge task, this will take sometime to complete. In the meantime if you can't find a name in one of those families, please try the others.

To access all of these sites, a password is required. Passwords are allocated to sites, in other words a person can't request their own indiviual password. Passwords are encrypted. When you click on the family concerned, you will be diverted to the login page. If you don't already have one, you can request one from the login page.
As the original site did not require this, I had requests to delete certain information. So please be aware that there is sensitive information in all of these sites. If, after these new security measures are in place, you require any information to be edited, please advise me at the email address below.

Another project is to add a composite tree comprising names from BELL, CATTERSON, DAWSON/DOWSON, HOATH, LONSDALE, MOSES, RICHARDSON, & WALKER. As this is a monumental task involving filtering of duplicates, triplicates, and even quadriplicates of names, there is no time limit attached to this project.

Please note That all abbreviations for England, Wales & Scotland County names are The Chapman Genealogical Codes.

On each page you will find a link to my Guest Book. Comments will be most welcome, so feel free to use it. Please state which family you are sending from. Even though there is a link on each page, they all go back to a common site.
